The trumpeting of horns found their way into Daniel-not-David’s divinations and mind. It was a little bit distracting. The Bound worked to help set up an anti-divination circle within his and Reis’s home so D-n-D could get some rest. This was merely a precursor though.
The Wilde Jagde, aka the Wild Hunt, was coming to this Conflux.
On the Saturday of the Conflux, the Erlking himself, leader of the Hunt, arrived to the blaring of horns through a rift right into the tavern, announcing the hunt and taking the bound on a test hunt of deercorn (half deer, half unicorn…good luck!)
A former member of the hunt, Ruby, later led the Bound into a memory of a prior hunt to prepare them for what was to come. That memory that they fought their way through re-enacting involved taking down a Ratking, a horrifying amalgam of many, many rats. Through grit, determination, and keeping it busy while enough power was gathered to actually breach its magical defenses, the Bound triumphed.
A Knight of the Winter Court showed up, bringing Bound to the Winter Library at the behest of Mab, to research and learn more about the Hunt. They discovered that the hunt keeps the fae Fae cities stable and prevents “the maw” from consuming portions of the material plane.
The time then came for the Erlking to return with the Covenant of the Wilde Jagd, the Contract for the Hunt itself. A great feast followed prepared by the Bound for the Erlking. All of this in preparation for the hunt itself, against a being known as a Rawhead. A being part flesh, part bone, and all hatred. It surrounded itself with a wall of bone, casting death from its fingertips as boney creatures crawled from the darkness to defend it.
Having experienced the memory of the former hunt, the Bound acted quickly to distract, draw forth energy, and breach this monster’s defenses as well to make an opening for the Erlking. Triumph was paired with exhaustion as the Erlking delivered the final blow to the Rawhead!
